Quality & value for money, key ingredients for our owners!
Over the years, Tally Ho Stud have proven peerless in their stallion offerings, most notably in recent times, the World class KODIAC & MEHMAS - so when they launch, onto the market, their latest freshman sire STARMAN, we’d suggest it would pay to sit up and take note. There’s usually fabulous value to be had in a successful stallion’s first season.
Most trainers, agents in particular, and indeed owners as a whole, as a rule of thumb, make a lemming like pilgrimage to the most fashionable and proven sires, often at great expense and with little reward. A freshman or first season sire approach can often bear much greater fruit for those operating on a middle market budget, as do we at MPR - it’s an approach that’s served us particularly well in the past eg Lily’s Angel (Dark Angel), Shouldvbeenaring/Eddie’s Boy (Havana Grey). We’re always looking for value for our owners snd we’d like to think that’s what we’ve unearthed with this fabulous, quality colt, by the freshman, Group 1 winning, son of Dutch Art, sprinter STARMAN.
Out of a sprinting bred mare, and from family of champions, our imposing colt is already a half brother to the 106 rated sprinter LEODIS DREAM, so could prove the real deal SPEED on SPEED, bred at Tally Ho and heading to the recent Group 1 Nunthorpe winning trainer Archie Watson - what’s not to like?
We’d love to think he's another Eddie’s Boy (Weatherbys Super Sprint winner for Archie and ourselves 2022 - a race for which this colt qualifies) Eddie's Boy walks away with Super Sprint as revellers pack in for Craig David | Racing Post or of course Brave Emperor (multiple Group 2 & Group 3 winner for Archie and ourselves).
Watch his powerful walk below:
He’s a great stamp of a horse - looks like a sprinter - bred to be a sprinter - built like a quality animal - bred to be a quality animal. He should come together for April or Maytime 2025 but he’ll progress as the season opens up and as the better races present themselves; races like the lucrative HARRY'S HALF MILLION - a speedy 6f race at York, could be right down his street. Group races and/or sales races, hopefully they’ll both come alike to this loose moving, quality colt. £60,000 is a fair spend, of course, however, we’re pretty sure we’ve secured sensational value on the coat tails of his sire’s freshman status. Another fantastic bonus, he qualifies for a €10,000 'IRE' bonus, should he win a qualifying maiden or novice Stakes race in 2025. Training Update (December): Richie reports that he has now completed his conditioning work and has had his work slightly increased. A great colt,. Very straightforward. Watch a video of him going upsides.
