Having earned prize money on all of his 13 starts this year, including two wins and four second places, Pals Battalion still operates in fantastic form and has very much danced every dance this season. A pound higher than on his previous start, he jumped well from stall 11, but settled nicely in midfield, before making his challenge against the nearside rail. David Nolan timed his run to perfection and won comfortably by ½ length. Fantastic sights at Newcastle last night, where many of his owners were in attendance to applaud him and David back into the winner's enclosure, besides the pouring rain.

Timeform rated his third victory with a t90, commenting: "Proved better than ever as he regained winning ways in determined fashion; mid-field, good headway over 1f out, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f; likely to continue in form."
David Nolan spoke to the owners post race: "Very well done to everyone. Delighted with that victory tonight, as he was very unlucky last time out. We had to get through a few gaps again, but he is very genuine, and finds its way through. He loves Newcastle and is in great form."
