We dare to dream !

Where better to send one of our most expensive purchases ever, than to, probably, the most in-form trainer in the country, KARL BURKE? - he seems adept at producing, season in, season out, a series of top-class horses to win top-class races - in fact, Karl has trained 16 Group 1 winners in total, many of them, very recently.

In recent years we’ve forged a fabulous working relationship with ace bloodstock agent Jeremy Brummitt, him having sourced for us, super success stories - the likes of recent Group 3 winner and Group 1 participant, next time out, LAZY GRIFF, also BUCKMAN TAVERN, BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS & TIMOSHENKO to name a small sample. He’s even sourced for us, already, this yearling sales’ season, 2 yearlings from Germany, heading to John & Thady Gosden and Sir Mark Prescott respectively.

Jeremy alerted us to the son of TEOFILO, and told us he couldn’t recommend this horse more highly, and, in his opinion, he was one of the nicest young horses he’d seen, literally, in years. Jeremy went on record, saying - “I think he could be a Group horse, he has a temperament to die for and the Teofilo out of a Dubawi mare is ‘the magic cross’" - a cross that is responsible for the recent winners of the Group 1 Arlington Million, the Group 1 Caulfield & Melbourne Cups, and the Meydan Group 2 Singspiel Stakes, to name but a few.

Jeremy was also keen to point out that the ‘Nick’ as it’s widely known, means that horses bred this way, overachieve to the tune of 4.19 times their expected AEI - Average Earnings Index, essentially they quadruple, in terms of prize money earned, that which their genes would ordinarily deliver.

You’d like to think that this exceptional colt will be taking his owners to many of the top tracks, in Great Britain and potentially beyond, travelling the World to ply his trade for mighty prize money, global, pots. 200,000gns is a whopping figure to pay, but as the saying goes, you generally get what you pay for in life, and should this horse prove anything like the performer was led to believe he could be, he could be worth several times his yearling purchase price and you never know, he could easily be a candidate for many a Group race in 2025 & 2026.

Pragmatically, let’s imagine, for a moment, that he doesn’t make up into the Group horse that we hope and half expect him to be, and that he operates by winning middle-distance handicaps off ratings, in the mid-’80s or early 90’s - well, these are precisely the sorts of horses that are attractive to overseas clients e.g. Australia and Hong Kong - his value, in such an instance, could be anything between £150,000 and £450,000 depending on his actual rating’s band. 200k sounds a lot of money, but it could prove money well spent and he’s in the very best hands to procure a top-class career, as is perfectly possible with his ‘value added’ pedigree.

Not to forget to mention he is qualified for the £25.000 Book 1 Bonus, for winning a maiden or novice during his 2-year-old career. Read all about it here: https://www.tattersalls.com/bonus-books/about/OC1

See for yourself what a stunning individual with a powerful walk he is:

Training Update (October 21st): Richie reports that he is very happy with how he has settled into his routine. He is a beautifully well balanced horse, with a great mind. He is now lunging both ways and long reining around the farm and open spaces. Watch a video of him below.
