A very happy 2025 to our Owners and Supporters of MPR!
Winner 1 of 2025: REBEL EMPIRE, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Joe Leavy (3). ‘Bet Boost At bet365 Handicap’ over 6f at Chelmsford.
Our final winner of 2024, Rebel Empire becomes our first winner of 2025 and takes the valuable £35.000,00 Class 3 Handicap.
A dual winner in December, the handicapper, and the busy spell of things seemed to have caught up with our 4-year-old son of Goken, having only finished midfield last time out. But Rebel Empire was keen to silence his doubters, and after a good start from a difficult draw, he sat prominent but wide in a very strongly run race. Joe pressed the leaders when turning for home, bumped into rivals inside the final 2 furlongs, but overcame all troubles and powered to another impressive victory.

Timeform rated his third victory with a p91: "Quickly put to bed the theory that his busy spell was catching up with him as he proved better than ever to resume winning ways off another quick turnaround, and in deeper company for a much bigger prize, too; chased leaders, pushed along over 2f out, hung left 1f out, led soon after, kept up to work."
Joe Leavy spoke to the Racing Post after the victory: “To be honest, I thought he had a really good chance. I was doing eight-four, which is light for me, but he’s the ultimate pro. He’s turned himself around in the last month and I’m really pleased for him as he’s all heart.”
