Purchased from the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale, where we purchased our Group 1 winner and Champion European 2yo 2013; TOORMORE (£36,000), Group 2 winner VENTURA TORMENTA and dual Group 2 winner KOOL KOMPANY (£40,000) and 2023 Group 1 performer SHOULDVEBEENARING (£40,000) - all trained by Richard!
His sire, DANDY MAN sadly died in December and was one of the most prolific sources of naturally speedy & high quality 2yo’s. The likes of our very own black type winner Ventura Diamond, plus Group 1 winners River Boyne, Peniaphobia, La Pelosa, Group 3 winner Happy Romance and Dandalla to name but a few. Always very highly regarded by Richard Hannon, who bought a share in him in the Spring, he started the season in perfect fashion at Salisbury. Then came a brilliant performance in finishing a close-up 4th in the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly ahead of an unlucky 5th in Goodwood’s Group 2 Vintage Stakes. Slightly disappointing in 2 HUGE prize money sales races, earning £15,000 on the former occasion. “Desperately needing gelding” according to regular jockey Sean Leavy. “All he’s thinking about, down at the start, are the ladies” Sean continues. Rated 101 after the Papin, he’s still heading for Group races and top-class handicaps in 2025. If the gelding op works the oracle, we’ve got a top-class horse, back on our hands.
