WINNER 7 OF 2023: SHOULDVEBEENARING, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey: The feature 'BetUK Conditions Stakes' over 6f at Southwell.
Held up in 3rd he settled nicely into a rhythm. At the 2 furlong marker, Sean took him towards the far side to make his challenge and he soon passed the leader and headed for home. The favourite loomed up on the inner, but couldn't get to him, as he put his head down and kept on well, to win by 3/4 of a length.

Sean said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "He deserved to win like that. He had the race won at the 2f marker and I am delighted for everyone at Middleham Park."
The Racing Post made him their 'Star Performer' on the card, commenting: "Shouldvebeenaring (6.00) was a ready winner of the feature sprint."
Timeform rated it as a career best t105, saying: "Proved better than ever returning from 4 months off in a small-field contest, qualifying himself for the 3-y-o final of the All-Weather Championship in fairly straightforward fashion; held up, headway under pressure over 1f out, led final 1f, kept on; will continue to give a good account."

It had all the makings of a tactical race and Sean got it spot on. I am delighted that he has come out as a 3 year old and put in a career best, after the stellar campaign he had last year. He will now head for the £150,000 All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championships at Newcastle on Good Friday.
