Unconditional Queen
Mon 18 Sep 2023
WINNER 86 OF 2023: ZIGGY'S QUEEN, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr: The feature £20k 'British EBF 40th Anniversary Fillies' Conditions Stakes' over 5f at Musselburgh.
Two 2nd's and a 3rd from her four starts to date, she lined up here against two fillies who have been running at Group 2 and Listed level and in some famous ownership silks.
Drawn away from the rail in 1, she started quickly and Oisin was able to get her across to lead. Last off the bridle, she had a sustained duel with the runner-up in the final furlong, actually being headed at one point, but she kept on well towards the finish and ran on gamely, to win by a head.
Ziggy's Queen is our 6th 2 year old to WIN at Class 2, Conditions Stakes or Listed Stakes level this season.

Timeform rated it as a 79 performance, saying: "Hadn't shaped at all badly from a poor draw in a race working out well at York and, back down in trip, found a little improvement to become the fourth next-time-out winner from that contest, impressing with her attitude most of all tackling softer ground for the first time; led, travelled best, joined 3f out, ridden over 1f out, responded well.”
Oisin said in his Racing TV interview: "There wasn't really much pace in the race so I thought if I could jump, I could get an easy lead. She's learning with racing and only had to sprint for 2 furlongs, so hopefully she can come on again for that.”
The Racing Post reported: 'Queen off the mark'
'Ziggy’s Queen was beaten three quarters of a length by Indispensable at Ripon in June, but she reversed that form when breaking her maiden in the 5f fillies' conditions race.
Last seen finishing eighth in a York nursery, which produced subsequent Group 3 winner Starlust and Thursday's valuable Doncaster sales race winner Room Service, Ziggy’s Queen denied 6-4 favourite Lady Pink Rose by a head, with Indispensable last of three.'

Syndicate manager Tom says: "She was tough in the business end, travelled really well into the race and I thought Oisin gave her a great ride. She had some higher rated horses under pressure there and hit the line hard, so we can consider 6f with her. I'll have a look at the 2 races that she is entered in at Ayr and speak to Richard, but for now she is a Class 2 Conditions Stakes winner with a good pedigree, which her owners will appreciate, so well done to them all.”
With 2 wins over the weekend at Musselburgh, that leaves us at the top of the Owners Championship with the flat season finale meeting on October 16th. Can we repeat our success of winning the Championship in 2021?
