Winner number 14 is Raymond Tusk, as he impresses on debut

Our son of HIGH CHAPARRAL has taken time to come to hand-he is a big, strong colt and one we have always liked, since we bought him at the Arqana Yearling Sale. When choosing the race for his debut, a 15 runner maiden on Greenham Trials day at Newbury amongst experienced opposition may have seemed quite a challenge!

Trainer Richard Hannon had said in his Unibet blog "He’s a very nice horse who I like a lot and while I don’t know anything about the others, I’d be hopeful of a decent show from ours. He can be expected to need this run but may just be able to get away with it on ability alone."

He wasn't wrong! The long stride that we had seen at home on the gallops with his owners had filled us with hope. Jockey Tom Marquand had him in a nice position, and he travelled well. Pushed along over 2f out, he then led 1f out, was ridden and stayed on well to draw clear inside the final furlong to win by an impressive 4.5 lengths!

He also won the £10,000 'Plus 10 Bonus' on top of the £5,531 first prize, so a double celebration for his owners-well done to them all, the wait has been worth it. He looks to have an exciting future.
