Wedding Date wins for the second time
Tue 20 Nov 2018
Having a first start on the all weather for a filly that has performed well on the turf over the summer was an unknown; we couldn't be sure she would take to it. However, she was given a peach of a ride by Clifford Lee, getting out sharpish from stall 8 to be near the front and one off the rail. We were a little worried when she came off the bridle after the turn for home, but Clifford galvanised her and with her lovely way of putting her head down, that's just what she did! She caught and passed the leader to win by 1 length. Clifford has now ridden out his 3lb claim and what a way to do it! Well done to him.
Richard was delighted and said "she showed a tough genuine attitude to get past the long-time leader and fend off the late challenge. She showed a liking for the surface and track which gives up options going forward. She would now be carrying a double penalty in novice races, but hopefully the handicapper won’t put her up more than a couple of pounds."
Well done to her owners who were shouting her home from the stand. Our team member Sarah was there and has shares in the filly herself. This was a milestone win for her, as it was her 50th winner as an owner: Not bad for 5 seasons of ownership!
