It was a very convincing 3 length win from WEDDING DATE in a hot 5f maiden at Chester yesterday. She missed the break and then had to run around the outside of the field, on a day when the rail position had provided the winners. But she travelled strongly and was still on the bridle as she coasted around the field under Silvestre De Sousa. When he asked her to quicken, she took off and pulled away, coasting across the line.
Perhaps it was the lucky breast girth she was wearing...in the post race interview, her trainer Richard Hannon told Racing UK, that it was just coincidence that she was tacked up with the same one that Billesdon Brook won the 1,000 Guineas wearing!
Richard also mentioned in his interview that she hadn't fully come in her coat yet, so there could be further inprovement. Well done to her owners-who look to have a very exciting season ahead with her.
She is our 20th winner of the year and third by a 2 year old, so things are going well at the moment.
