We return from Deauville, delighted with our new yearling purchases
Wed 23 Aug 2017
Having bought Tigre Du Terre as a yearling in France, there was a clear agenda when we travelled over to Deauville for the Arqana sale - further Le Havre progeny had to be looked at very closely.
Le Havre is probably the best young stallion in France and one of the best in Europe. He is already the sire of umpteen Group winners, headlined by the two dual Group 1 winning fillies of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane Longines: AVENIR CERTAIN and LA CRESSONNIERE.
Working alongside top bloodstock agents Peter and Ross Doyle, we reduced all the lots that we inspected to a select short list and were delighted to secure two superb fillies by Le Havre. Both go to, whom else, but Mr Hannon.
Another of our bloodstock agents Bobby O'Ryan, who ironically bought the Group 1 winning Wootton Bassett as a yearling, was so struck by a son of the sire that he pleaded with us: "If there's one thing you do, please buy this colt for Richard to train." We also loved the horse and duly bought him for Mr Fahey to train. He of course, also trained Wootton Bassett, so it's a match made in heaven!
