Storming to Double Gold!
Wed 16 Feb 2022
WINNER 15 OF 2022: BRUNO'S GOLD, trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Hollie Doyle: 'The MansionBet Proud Partners Of AWC Median Auction Maiden Stakes' over 1m at Newcastle.
They say that patience is one of the most required elements of racehorse ownership and here we have a prime example. Our colt by Galileo Gold was making his debut at 3, having taken time to mature and grow into his frame. We saw him with owners at our weekend stable visit and he had really developed into a fine specimen. Archie declared him for this Maiden race and he was 1 of 4 debutants in the 10 runner field.
As the stalls opened, he dwelt at the start, also rearing slightly and then took a keen hold. Hollie slotted him in midfield and you could see him wanting to go quicker as he carried his head high. Still travelling powerfully, she asked him to come around slowing horses and he edged right as his greenness told. You could see that he wasn't sure what he needed to do, but with Hollie's urgings, he lengthened his stride and moved into the lead, keeping on well inside the final furlong to win by 1/2 a length, from the favourite. The pair pulling 5 lengths away from the 3rd placed horse.

Hollie said in her Sky Sports Racing interview after the race: "He jumped green and ran green and is a big baby mentally, so it was important to educate him. When the split came, he ran on nicely."
Timeform awarded him with a t77 rating, saying:"Strong in the betting and made a successful debut, knuckling down well to peg back the other market principal (pair clear); in touch, raced freely, had to wait for gap over 2f out, switched under 2f out, ran green, kept on well final 1f, led final 50 yds; should improve."
WINNER 16 OF 2022: OUTRUN THE STORM, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Billy Garritty : 'The Betway Handicap' over 6f at Newcastle.
Getting a bump coming out of the stalls, Jack took him across to the nearside rail, as he chased the clear leader, who was 4 lengths ahead. After being pushed along, at the 2 pole, he made steady headway as another horse came out of the pack to take the lead. Gradually he reeled that horse in as he ran on gamely towards the finish to win by 3/4 of a length.

Jack said in his Sky Sports Racing interview after the race: "He had to do all the hard work all by himself. It was a hot race on paper and competitive, but he likes Newcastle. He was blind sided at one point, but once he saw that horse, he picked up."
Timeform awarded him with a career best rating of 84 and say: "Produced a career best to resume winning ways, the emphasis on stamina suiting him well at this trip, finding plenty and the return to 7f won't inconvenience him; in touch, driven over 1f out, edged left final 1f, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, driven out."
Syndicate manager for both horses, Tom says: "Well I am delighted with another MPR double last evening, and even more that they are both horses that I manage! Bruno's Gold did that the hard way, as he was so green but his natural ability came through to take the race in a good fashion in the end - always special when it is on debut. His owners patience has been rewarded and I'd like to thank Hollie for a great educational ride. He was our first winner with Archie, so well done to him and his team.
An hour later, we watched Outrun The Storm tough it out to take his 3rd career win. He has been consistent for his owners- from his 15 starts he has been in the winners' enclosure 9 times. Well done to both set of owners."
