Shouldvebeenaring wins the Group 3 Prix des Rix-Orangis

Mon 08 Jul 2024

Winner 49 of 2024: SHOULDVEBEENARING, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey. Group 3 ‘Prix de Ris-Orangis’ over 6f at Deauville.

Back at his beloved Deauville, where he finished a very good 5th in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat this time last year. Shouldvebeenaring, who has been knocking on the door so many times, jumped well, travelled strongly midfield and once switched to the stand side rail, flew home to give us our 71st success on listed and group level.

It was a good performance against old and new rivals with strong forms coming into the race. Everyone at Middleham Park Racing as well as Richard Hannon's are delighted to see our dual Group 1 placed son of Havana Grey and yard favourite get his well-deserved full success at Group Level.

Timeform rated his brilliant performance with a 117, saying: "mid-division, had to wait for gap 2f out, good progress final 1f, edged ahead close home."

"Shouldvebeenaring made the journey over to France worthwhile on Sunday, winning the Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orangis." - read the full story on what Richard Hannon had to say about his stable star: https://www.richardhannonracing.co.uk/news,shouldvebeenaring-wins-in-france_787.htm

Sean Levey told us after the race: "He just loves Deauville, he seems to really like it here and I belive the track plays to his strengths. After last year's 5th in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat, another high class and gutsy performance from Shouldvebeenring. He is a very good horse, well done to his owners and Richard."

A delighted syndicates manager Tim Palin says: "Faboulous to see him win at Group 3 level, thoroughly deserved. Slightly different tactics might have helped, but a fantastic tenacity from the horse. He seems to love Deauville and runs so well at this track. Delighted for his owners, all the team at Richard's, and of course for the horse, that after a few unlucky photo-finishes, the luck was finally on our side today."
