Serg Powers to Win Again
Sun 22 Nov 2020
OUR 69th WINNER OF 2020: CITYZEN SERG, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey: The Bombardier 'March To Your Own Drum' Handicap, over 1m 1/2f at Wolverhampton.
A birthday winner for the trainer!
Seven days on from winning over course and distance, Serg and Sean were reunited back at Dunstall Park, 6lbs higher in the weights. Drawn in 1, he jumped well, without taking the race on. Three horses on his outer moved across, as he sat in fourth on the rail. Coming around the bend, Sean asked him to switch right to come around the leaders, he was close up at the1f pole and quickened to lead inside the final 110yds. Timeform rate it as a career best performance to date, giving him a t90 rating.

Simon Mapletoft, on site Sky Sports Racing reporter, kindly said, as Serg crossed the line "Another winner for the ever successful Middleham Park Racing!" After the race, he spoke to Sean, who said: "He's given weight all round and he's done really well, having to back up a run, as he only ran here a week ago. He has every chance to progress."
Syndicate manager Tim says: "We’ve always thought a lot of Cityzen Serg, hence his lauded name, so it’s great to see him come good. After last week’s win, this seemed the perfect race for him, but we needed to act swiftly to enter him up. Hopefully he can build on this. Dare we dream of a Serg hat trick? Congratulations to his owners."
Lovely to read a message this morning from the owner in attendance, who said: "It was a great experience seeing our first winner as an owner live!" and also very pleasant reading through the current All-Weather Champs "All-Star Leaderboards"......
Who will be our 70th winner of the year?? We have plenty of fun coming up for our owners next week, continuing with our All-Weather team and over the Jumps, the excitement especially builds, to seeing our unbeaten Listed winning mare MARIE'S ROCK back out. She completed a racecourse gallop at Newbury this week, as part of Nicky Hendersons stars destined for the Ladbrokes Winter Festival. She is being aimed at the Listed Gerry Feilden Hurdle next Saturday. Read more here: https://newburyracecourse.co.uk/raceday/ladbrokes-winter-carnival-ladbrokes-trophy-day/ and via the link below.
