Record Breaker
Sat 20 Jul 2024
Winner 55 of 2024: ZIGGY’S ARIEL, trained by Alice Haynes and ridden by Rowan Scott. ‘G4 Claims Ltd EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes’ over 6f at Hamilton.
After her encouraging debut in Newmarket three weeks ago, where she finished 4th to the July Stakes second Billboard Star, we were excited for her second run. She broke well from stall 8, took advantage of the stand side rail and disputed the lead. She made all and when joined by the eventual runner up inside the final furlong, she showed a brilliant attitude and battled all the way to the line. Despite her jockey having lost his persuader, Ziggy's Ariel broke the juvenile course record. An incredible effort from our 2year old filly on her only second start. Our second runner in the race, Mr Cool, trained by Charlie Johnston and ridden by Joe Fanning also picked up some price money in 4th.

Timeform rated her performance with a 74, saying: "Showed improved form to narrowly get off the mark, doing well under the circumstances given her rider dropped his whip entering the final 1f; led, travelled fluently, pushed along over 1f out, rider dropped whip entering final 1f, just held on."
Rowan Scott was very taken by her performance:
Alice Haynes told us after race: "Well done with Ziggy’s Ariel getting her head in front on just her second start at Hamilton yesterday.
She did so despite her rider dropping his stick, and showed a good attitude to keep going without the persuader being required. She did plenty in front early on but we had to make use of her good draw, and she will learn plenty from it."

Syndicate Manager Tim says: "That was a very good perfomance of the filly. I thought she did that in the style of a nice horse. She has shown a fantastic attitude in the closing stages, as well as plenty of speed early on, and was able to maintain that pace througout the race. Alice always liked her, and we are probably looking at races like the 'Alice Keppel Fillies' Conditions Stakes' at Goodwood next, which is exciting!"
