Rattling Home!
Tue 01 Nov 2022
WINNER 116 OF 2022: RATTLING, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Alec Voikhansky (-7): 'The BetUK's Acca Club 5 Pounds Free Bet Handicap' over 6f at Wolverhampton.
A rather murky and very damp evening at Dunstall Park last evening, as owners loyally stood in the paddock, with their hoods up! Drawn in stall 1, we hoped that Rattling and Alec hadn't heard the Sky Sports Racing team say that "6f stall 1 stats aren't great."
She was slowly into stride and had to settle in mid-division. She was starting to make headway 2f from home and coming around the bend, began to chase the leaders; going 2nd inside the final furlong. A gap opened on the rail and she sneaked through to lead inside the final 110yds, running on, to win by 3/4 of a length.

Timeform rated it as a career best t81, saying: "Had excuses for recent defeats and bounced back to his best under a well-timed ride from his 7-lb claimer; mid-field, headway on inner early in straight, led final 100 yds, ridden out”
Alec said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "She broke a little slow, so I had to sit in behind. I knew she had a lot left, so I was happy to sit there on the inside and wait. When the time came, she went through the gap and she did it nicely in the end. Mr Hannon is a great boss and Middleham have given me a lot of rides this season, so I am grateful to them.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Well done to her owners and we hope the champagne helped, as they were soaked through! That was some ride from Alec and I am delighted that she has got her head in front again. She has been pretty consistent - winning twice and in the top 3 on 7 of her 10 starts. I will see what the handicapper does and what races are about for her. Nice work by the Hannon team also, with a double at the track last evening.”
