No Split Decision for Fury
Sat 28 Aug 2021
WINNER 71 OF 2021: LEXINGTON FURY, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen (-3): 'The Bubble Plunge Ltd Maiden Stakes' over 1m at Ffos Las.
It was certainly an eventful meeting at Ffos Las yesterday! Having run at the track 16 days ago (after a 268 day break) he was back over course and distance. Tracking the leader, he was on the inner, travelling nicely. Thore asked him to quicken inside the final 2 furlongs and he made a strong challenge, although he was bumped inside the final furlong, with every chance. Also carried slightly left towards the line, he regained his momentum and kept on, although he finished 2nd by a head, with 2 lengths back to the 3rd horse.
We heard the stewards enquiry klaxon sound just as we were all re watching the finish, with the Sky Sports Racing team discussing the interference. It took a while for the result of the enquiry to be announced, but when we saw this from the BHA, we could celebrate!

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Congratulations to his owners on a thrilling victory. As they crossed the line, I thought that he might just get awarded the race and it was fantastic that the stewards reversed the result. It was a good run and he stayed every inch of the mile and to me he would get further. Thore said that he handled the ground and showed a very tenacious attitude to get back after being bumped. Timeform rated it as a career best 88 (we have had a lot of those lately!) and I think he has the potential to give his owners plenty more success.”
