Lighting Up Yarmouth
Fri 09 Jun 2023
WINNER 46 OF 2023: BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and ridden by Luke Morris: 'The Download The At The Races App Handicap' over 1m 3.5f at Yarmouth.
After a 247 day break over the winter, this was his handicap debut, with the market having him as 2nd favourite..
Tracking the leader in second he looked comfortable. As they came around the final bend into the home straight, the field of 7 were almost in a line. Luke gave him a shake up and he took the lead over 2f out. He ran on well into the final furlong, allowing Luke time to look over his shoulder as he pulled away from the favourite. Under hands and heels, he went clear and was eased towards the finish, ears pricked and winning easily, by 3 lengths.

Timeform rated it as a career best 76 performance, saying: "Gelded since last seen, left previous form well behind handicapping over 3f longer trip after 8 months off, just the type his stable excel with and there's more wins to come; prominent, pushed along 3f out, led over 2f out, drew clear, had plenty in hand; will go on improving and looks the type to run up a sequence.”
Luke told Jason Weaver, in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "He is a gorgeous big horse who has done well for the winter on his back. The team at Heath House are in great order and I am delighted for them and his owners.”

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Well done to his owners and indeed to Sir Mark and the team at Heath House who are in tremendous form! He did that nicely for a first run of the season and looks like he could be another YAGAN and give his owners some fun this year. He has a lovely size to him and there will be a few jumps trainers begging to have him on their team! Sir Mark says 'the handicapper is sure to put us up more than a penalty, so we’ll look to go again at Lingfield on Monday, all being well.' Talking of our NH string, it was good to see the Nicky Henderson trained JEN'S BOY return after a 191 day break to take 2nd at Ffos Las.”
We have a lovely Time Test colt in training with Sir Mark, called TEST OF LOVE, who is looking pretty racy for a Heath House 2 year-old. Final shares available, here: https://www.middlehamparkracing.net/horses/view,test-of-love-a-colt-by-time-test_1485.htm
