King Of Tonga wins at Newmarket
Sat 02 Nov 2019
KING OF TONGA was an impressive winner in the final race of the season at Newmarket yesterday, with a career best Timeform rating of 101, for David O'Meara.
It was a great ride by Harry Bentley and he coped very well with the heavy ground. Along with the 2nd horse, he pulled 6 lengths away from the other 12 runners, earning over £6,000 in prize money too!

We bought him in July and as we believed at the time, he’s the sort of horse whose pedigree suggests he will improve steadily as he matures physically. His 101 career best Timeform rating in the race yesterday, suggests he’s firmly on an upward curve. Given he’s by Dark Angel and is a half brother to the 108 rated Abstraction (by Majestic Missile), there could easily be a fair few pounds’ of improvement to come as a 4/5/6yo. They say sprinters aren’t fully mature until they’re 6yo and given 6f and 7f look to be this fellow’s trip, he’s potentially, every inch the top class Handicapper we hoped we’d bought in July.
