Jubilation at Bath!

WINNER 55 OF 2022: AIRSHOW, trained by Rod Millman and ridden by Ross Coakley: 'The Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap' over 5f at Bath.
Taken down early, as he usually is, he broke well - again, as he usually does and was to the fore. He was bumped though soon after the start and as a consequence, was headed and had to then press the leader. He moved into the lead again 2f out, with Ross in the drive position, but was headed again inside the final furlong. In true Airshow fashion, he battled back gamely and led again in the final stride, in a head bob finish. We weren't sure though if he had done it as they crossed the line in a bunch and even Ross had to ask if they had got there as they returned to the winners enclosure! Then, the announcement came and he had done it - by a short head. (See the photo finish image in the gallery.)

Timeform rated it as an 87 performance, saying: "Is admirably consistent and was recording his fourth course win on what was his twelfth start of the year, showing no signs of weariness and battling back in game fashion having been headed; bumped soon after start, chased leader, led halfway, headed inside final 1f, rallied to lead again on line; mark won't suffer much for this and he should continue to give a good account..”
Ross said in his Sky Sports Racing interview, with Luke Harvey: "I was well headed, in fact I was about 1/2 a length down at one stage coming to the line, but he has the will to win and is so tough. All credit to him - he gives everything!”
