Burnt Sugar and Dalshand earn us our 6th double in July. (There was also one treble btw!)
Sun 29 Jul 2018
Every Saturday this month we have been fortunate to have had high profile and valuable winners-three on ITV Racing, so have nejoyed hearing "well done" from the team on their broadcast podium which is nice!:
Sat 7th: TIGRE DU TERRE-Sandown-The Class 2 Coral Challenge (£46,000 to the winner)
Sat 14th: BURNT SUGAR-Newmarket-The Class 2 Bunbury Cup (£74,500 to the winner)
Sat 21st: MARIE'S DIAMOND-The Curragh-The Group 3 Anglesey Stakes (£34,000 to the winner)
Sat 28th: BURNT SUGAR-Ascot-The Gigaset International Stakes (£93,000 to the winner)
Yesterdays win by the Roger Fell trained Burnt Sugar capped what has been a remarkable training performance. We bought him at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training sale for £70,000 and since being trained by Roger, he has won £275,000 from three high profile handicaps in the last 12 months alone. Just a wonderful horse and Shane Kelly who rode him to victory yesterday said "I was travelling so well there was nothing in front that I could take a lead from anymore, we just had to go. He's a good horse!" There were jubilant scenes in the winners enclosure afterwards and his owners were interviewed by Oli Bell on the ITV Racing channel! https://twitter.com/itvracing/status/1023210109760167936

Huge thanks go to Roger and his team and a special mention to Sarah Jones, who looked after him yesterday. Sarah single handedly drove Burnt Sugar down to Ascot; prepped him to look a million dollars, saddled him, led him up, washed him down, fed him, drove him home then put him to bed, all before she could take a rest herself.
THANKYOU Sarah, you are amazing and we and our owners appreciate the hard work you and all stable staff do for our horses.
Then in the evening DALSHAND not only backed up his win last time out, but also brought up the double for us, after winning at Lingfield. Taking the race in fine style under Danny Tudhope, the Racing Post commentary says: "Held up in 3rd, headway into 2nd 1 1/2f out, led over 1f out, pushed clear final furlong, easily."
Congratulations to his owners and well done to David O'Meara. He seems to be relishing these 2 mile trips (perhaps he has been comparing notes with Timoshenko on the 'stayers hotline'?)
Yesterday's double took us to 21 winners in July and 55 for the year, with £865,000 of race prize money, so we are rather pleased with that!
