'A Grande' ride by Pat Dobbs on Thank You Next
Thu 16 Jul 2020
Our 30th Winner of the year: THANK YOU NEXT, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Pat Dobbs: The Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes, over 6f at Kempton.
Well only yesterday, we pondered who our 30th winner would be and Thank You, our Next 2yo runner was just that!! She was named by Steven Rocco after the popular Ariana Grande song Thank U, Next and there were a few mentions of the song on social media after her win.
You may have read our "10 new breezer purchase" story posted last week. Well, this filly was one of those we managed to buy privately ahead of her planned appearance at the breeze up sales, with our trusted bloodstock agents Peter and Ross Doyle. So far, we are thrilled with the results from the two runners from this cohort - with the Ben Haslam trained Party Game taking 2nd on debut.
Our daughter of No Nay Never made her debut at Windsor on July 6th over 5f, running a super race in 3rd behind two fillies who ran at Royal Ascot, the winner of this race being Caroline Dale, having been 3rd in the Gr 2 Queen Mary on her previous start. So, we stepped her up to 6f yesterday at Kempton and Pat Dobbs was once again in the saddle.
We call Pat "The King Of Kempton" and in his surmise of the race to owners this morning, syndicate manager Tim reaffirmed how good Pat was in yesterdays race. "To be in the 'cat/bird' position after 2 furlongs from the potential troublesome stall 9, is testament to Pat's skill of getting horses in the right places. She was still green off the bridle as he asked her for an effort 2f out, but she kept on very strongly inside the final furlong, as Pat got lower in the saddle and then really took off when she took the hint that was what she needed to do! She won going away after the line and her pedigree says she will get a mile, maybe further in time. She toughed it out and I am delighted for her owners to get the job done on her second start."

Well done to all her owners. Here's one of the replies we received this morning: "Overjoyed here! Great race review Tim. As owners we entrust the trainer and you to plot our destiny and you have the results to prove it. Thanks again."
Richard Hannon is in great form. We worked out this morning, that 40% of our runners from his yard this year have either won or been 2nd and we still have nine 2 year old's to debut. Our new Mehmas 'breezer' who performed the fastest breeze at the Tattersalls Craven sale, now named CLARENDON HOUSE, is ready to run and we are now looking for suitable races for him to make his debut, which is very exciting as Mehmas is on fire and leading the first season sire winners table!
