50 Blinding Winners
Fri 16 Jun 2023
WINNER 50 OF 2023: BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and ridden by Luke Morris: The 'Follow @Betvictor on Twitter Handicap' over 1m 4f at Newbury.
Breaking well, he tracked the leader on the outer. Luke asked him to quicken the pace 3 furlongs out and he duly responded, to take the lead. He soon faced a challenge though and the pair pulled clear with one other, coming into the final furlong. He kept on well under Luke's drive, pricking his ears as he was in front and stayed on nicely, to win comfortably by 1 and 3/4 lengths.
Sir Mark's first winner at Newbury for 9 years!

Timeform rated it as a 78 performance, saying: "Made the most of a good opportunity after just 3 days off, the return to a galloping track suiting him well; prominent, led under pressure under 3f out, tackled over 1f out, asserted entering final 1f, edged right soon after; scopey sort who's in excellent hands and remains open to improvement, 1¾m well within range."
Luke told us: "I'm absolutely delighted with him today, back on a galloping track. We've got a really nice horse on our hands."
Syndicate manager Tim says: "Sir Mark and I are delighted with him and the cheers from his owners who were at Newbury, as he returned to the winners enclosure were audible on Racing TV. Congratulations to them on his second win in a week. He is a lovely big horse who will relish a further step up in trip and will now have a break before we decide on his next mission.
Congratulations to Sir Mark, William and the team at Heath House on their super form and thank you for giving us yet another winning stayer after TIMOSHENKO, BUCKMAN TAVERN and YAGAN. Bringing up our 50th winner of the year in advance of the first full 6 months, means that the MPR record breaking form of 2022 sustains!"
