Yousini is our third 2yo debutante winner!
Fri 18 May 2018
We had seen good things from our 2 year old son of Siyouni on the Kevin Ryan gallops, but you never know whether that will transfer onto the racecourse. Yousini made his debut this evening at Hamilton in the 5f Novice and faced seven rivals, including those with race experience. The race turned out to be full of bumping and blocking, but wearing a sheepskin noseband, it was easy to keep a track of his ever changing placing. Tom Eaves had to do plenty of steering to get him through a gap, but when he did, he got him to quicken under hands and heels to win comfortably in the end.
A superb job by both jockey and trainer to have him switched on to get the job done first time out in what was anything but a straightforward race. He looks like a colt to have a bright future and the excitement seen on his owners faces in the winners enclosure sums up how they feel! Well done to them all and thank you to Duncan for the lovely image.
He is our third 2 year old to win on debut this season and from our nine first time out runners, seven have finished in the top 3 on their first starts. They are:
Winners - Marie's Diamond (M Johnston) Ninetythreetwenty (Richard Fahey), Yousini (Kevin Ryan)
2nd - Piccothepack (Richard Fahey) and Wedding Date (Richard Hannon); who went on to win on her next start
3rd - Howzer Black (Keith Dalgleish) and Good Tyne Girl (Richard Fahey).
His win takes us to 21 winners now this season, so we must thank all our trainers and their teams, as we are ahead of 2017 (and that was a good year!)
