'YAY' GAN!
Sat 05 Jun 2021
WINNER 35 OF 2021: YAGAN, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and ridden by Luke Morris: The 'Get Hugh Taylor's Tips On Attheraces.com Handicap' over 1m 6f at Bath.
After winning over 1m 4f at Yarmouth 6 days ago, he lined up at Bath over 1m 6f under a 6lb penalty. Rearing slightly coming out of the stalls (prompted by the consternation caused by the horse who was reluctant to go in), didn't seem to stop him getting into his stride smoothly and he was at the head of the field soon after. He was bowling along nicely the whole way, but coming to around 2f out, he seemed to idle a little and so Luke had to wake him up with a shake of the reins. He responded and increased the pace to go 3 lengths ahead and was always doing enough to see off a challenger, to win by a length.

Luke told the other Luke (Harvey) on Sky Sports Racing: "I was keen to try and conserve him and he's won without doing too much. The ground is a bit lively and I think he would appreciate it a bit easier. He was in front a long time and having a look around and not doing too much so I had to give him a shake up towards the finish. He doesn't do a great deal at home and I'm sure he will continue to progress - he really is a beautiful looking horse."
Timeform say 60+: "....he'll almost certainly continue improving for a while yet.."
Syndicate manager Tim says: "Thank you to Sir Mark and his team for giving Yagan's syndicate two wins within a week! They have enjoyed the winners champagne at Yarmouth and Bath so far and we hope that they will be tasting another vintage at a different racecourse next. We have him declared at Lingfield on Monday over 1m 4f so there will be another 6 of his syndicate there to cheer him on. They were presented with a lovely photo of him as part of their prize selection (below.) He is such a handsome horse, as Luke said in his interview, but they are all the more handsome in owners' eyes when they pick up number '1's on their form pages! Well done everyone."
