Not for Catching

Winner 11 of 2025: ZIGGY’S CONDOR, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Jack Garritty. ‘Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap’ over 6f at Southwell.

Coming into the race, Ziggy's Condor has picked up prize money on 5 of his last 5 starts. He just doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Seeing him getting his head back in front makes it even more special. He was drawn in 2 and disputed the lead after blitzing the starting stalls. Our son of Havana Grey travelled extremely well in the hands of Jack Garritty, and responded well to stretch clear inside the final furlong. A good performance from our 4-year-old, who seemed to enjoy the drop in trip back to 6f and added visors for the first time.

Timeform rated his victory with a t91, saying: "Back down in trip, bounced back to best reverting to front-running tactics in a first-time visor and doubled his career win tally in straightforward fashion, barely seeing another rival; made all, took keen hold, kicked on over 1f out, always holding on; should remain competitive."

Jack Garritty spoke to our owners after the race: "Everything worked out perfect from the low draw. We got to a great start, managed to dispute the lead early and having an easy time at the front end. But he kept on well under pressure. We knew he would stay the 6f well and so he did. A good performance, and the visors helped him to focus."

Tom Palin, Syndicate Manager: "Well done everyone. Wonderful to see him getting his head back in front. He had been running admirably over the past few months, hasn't he, so it was just brilliant to see him win again. The horse deserved it, and of course all his owners. A very pleasing result all around. He never looked in any doubt, and Jack gave him a fantastic front running ride I thought. He travelled effortlessly well, and looked like he was having a great time of things at the front end. Coming off the bend, he had plenty left under the bumb and never looked like he get caught. A fabulous success."
