OUR 9th WINNER OF 2021: GET THE APPEAL trained by Paul Nicholls OBE and ridden by Harry Cobden: 'The Bet365 Handicap Hurdle' (Qualifier) over 2m 6f at Musselburgh.
Conceding weight all round, the focus before the race was all about the horse, who was the third leg of a well reported gamble-with the first two having won. Get The Appeal was unaware of all the hype around this race though and Harry Cobden set her off in front. She jumped superbly all round with her ears pricked, although a seagull did its best to distract her at the 6th hurdle! She faced a challenge after 3 out, but when Harry asked her to quicken away, she kept on well to win by 2 1/4 lengths.
Timeform say: "Seen to good effect from the front but knuckling down particularly well in the latter stages; made all, jumped fluently, kicked on early in straight, tackled from 3 out, asserted soon after last, responded well."

It was a double for the Ditcheat team, who had made the long journey up for the 2-day meeting.

Syndicate manager Tom (what a couple of days he had with the horses under his managment!) says: "Congratulations to her owners on her second victory. It was an interesting build up, with her race being the last leg of a serious betting coup and it must have been one of the most watched races not aired on terrestrial television for a very long time! But she foiled that plan and ran a great race up in trip and jumped immaculately. It was a brilliant ride by Harry - that's exactly the way to ride Musselburgh and every time a challenger came to her she showed such a willing attitude and kept responding for pressure. In time 3 miles wouldn't be too much of a task for her and as her jumping was spot on, we can look next year at mares novice chasing. A brilliant day all round with the double and she is spot on this morning, after a late return home."
It has been a tremendous weekend, with LONGSIDER winning in impressive style at Lingfield on Saturday and FIVEANDTWENTY taking the Listed feature race earlier on the Sunday card at Musselburgh. We held our live quiz on YouTube last evening and there were plenty of happy, giddy owners taking part!
