Winner 13 of 2025: RED RISK, trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Harry Cobden. The Class 2 ‘JenningsBet Handicap Hurdle’ over 2m7 1/2f at Uttoxeter.
After a fantastic start to his season at Musselburgh, where he flew home to finish a gallant third in the Pertemps Qualifier on the back off a 261-day break, and with the ground turning soft at Uttoxeter, we were hopeful for another good run by our 10-year-old RED RISK. Harry gave him a great confident ride, letting him find his rhythm out the back, before steadily making headway half a mile from home. As the saying goes – ‘It looked like the bird has flown’ and Red Risk was staying on for “only” second place. But our son of No Risk At All got a second wind in the closing stages, and reeled in the favourite to win the feature hurdle of the day on the line. A fantastic result for our veteran who took his career earnings to over £200,000, and a wonderful training performance from Paul Nicholls and a very well done to his patient and long standing owners.

Timeform rated his victory with a 142.
A delighted Harry Cobden spoke to the Racing Post after the race: "He was brilliant, wasn't he?" the winning rider said. "His last run at Musselburgh was very good, and I just thought off his mark of 137 he'd have a little chance. I wasn't quite sure he'd be good enough to win, but we rode him to run well and ended up nicking the lot. Joyeux Machin was all over us jumping the second last and then he basically stopped. We've come with a wet sail after the last and done him on the line. I'm a very happy man!"

Syndicate Manager Tom Palin this morning: "Congratulations! What a fantastic victory by our horse. Red Risk deserved it, Paul and Harry deserved it, but especially his owners deserved it. He does need lenghty gaps between his runs, but he showed us there yesterday, Red Risk, at the great age of 10, can still win the big ones. He has already given us a wonderful run over the years, including trips to some of the major Festivals and abroad, but I belive it's fair to say - yesterday's wonderful victory will live in everybody's memories for a long, long time."
