Winner 70 of 2024: FAR FROM DANDY, trained by George Boughey and ridden by Billy Loughnane. ‘British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes’ at Yarmouth over 1m.

FAR FROM DANDY appreciated the step up in trip, the switch to the turf and takes a big step forward from his debut run at Newcastle 10 days ago. Drawn midfield, he jumped well and always travelled strongly. The field was spread out and Billy found himself just behind the leading pair on the far side, being able to get a bit of cover before asking him to go about winning his race, and once Billy pushed the button in the closing stages, Far from Dandy kept finding for him and drew clear within the final furlong to win impressively by over 1 ¾ lengths. Another hugely exciting 2-year-old and our 70^th winner of the season.

Timeform rated his victory with a 72p, saying: "Had clearly learnt plenty from debut and got off the mark in good style upped to 1m, value for around double the end margin; mid-field, good headway soon after halfway, led under 2f out, in command final 100 yds, eased; will go on improving."
