Don't Impress me much

Winner 83 of 2024: HOW IMPRESSIVE, trained by Hugo Palmer and ridden by Oisin Murphy. ‘Play Different With Betfair Handicap’ over 7f at Chelmsford.
If one horse relishes the cooler seasons and the All-Weather surface, it is our now 6th-time winning son of Starspangledbanner.
He was a very close 2nd last time out in Chelmsford, denied only a head, so hopes were high that last night, he and his favourite jockey Oisin, the pair is 3 from 4 this year, could make it happen! After a very sharp break from the stalls, Oisin sat prominently behind the leading pair in the early part of the race, before disputing the lead without using too much energy. How Impressive travelled powerfully into the home straight, kicked 3-lengths clear and was not for catching by the rest of the field, as he kept on gamely to win in scintillating fashion.

Timeform rated his 6th victory with a p91, saying: "Had signalled a return to form last time (race won by Twilight Fun over C&D that is working out well) and with his mark still below what he defied for his last 2 wins in the spring, resumed winning ways in decisive fashion, the champion-elect rider seen to excellent effect and Murphy clearly gets on well with him, 3 from 4 this year compared to 1 from 12 for everyone else; chased leader, went on after 3f out, drew clear approaching straight, driven out."
Syndicate Manager Tom Palin said this morning: "Congratulations on what was another brilliant victory from him, and it's fair to say it had been coming based on recent performances since Thirsk so it was great to see him be able to put it all together and get his head back in front. Oisin gave him a lovely ride, getting him to the head of affairs without using too much petrol and then managed to just build up enough of a lead that the chasing pack were never able to land any form of blow and he's ran out a very ready winner. We're likely going to have to look at going again with him in the not too distant future given the ease in which he won."
