2 year old handicap marks were released today and we have 9 rated 75 and above
Tue 26 Jun 2018
When we buy our 2-year-olds, we like to have a broad range of pedigrees, in order to cover the 2-year-old programme for the season, whilst looking to have talent to take their owners through to a 3-year-old career and beyond. We split our 2-year-old strings into three phases in line with the programme book. Phase 1 would be 5f fast and precocious sorts, all speed and 5f specialists. Phase 2 would be starters over 6 furlongs, still speedy, but with a little more stamina. As you may well know there are stiff 6-furlong tests at some tracks! Phase 3 would be those who have the pedigree to want a mile plus in time and who start over 7 furlongs. We are seeing the first of those starting out now, as the 7f race programme has begun.
As of today, our juvenile strings have competed in 45 2-year-old races, all around the country. In fact here, you can see where they have raced on the turf:
Hamilton, Musselburgh
Beverley, Carlisle. Chester (May Festival). Doncaster, Haydock, Pontefract, Ripon, Wetherby
Leicester, Newmarket
Royal Ascot, Brighton, Epsom (Oaks Day), Lingfield, Newbury and Sandown.
Of the 32 races we have won so far this season, 9 have been won by 2 year-olds, who have also placed 2nd 9 times, 3rd 8 times and 4th 4 times:
2yo's placed 1-3 = 26 (58%)
2yo's placed 1-4 = 30 (67%)
So, it would appear that our phase 1 and 2 cohort have been a useful bunch!

There are of course, those who have just had one run so far who look to be quality performers in the making....Ventura Ocean and Magical Wish, both 2nd on debut in very close finishes to name just two and we have some talent yet to debut, including, amazingly, those with shares available. See all the current entries here: http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/entries.htm
Beechwood Izzy had shares available until she won at Thirsk last week, then the phone was red hot and many missed out, so just a heads up if you want to be part of our stats! Have a look through our 'Buy Shares' page and please do get in touch with Charlotte: charlotte@middlehamparkracing.net if you have any questions.
