William Knight
Trainer William Knight announced his return to Newmarket, saying it was “an incredibly exciting move”.
Knight, who has trained over 300 winners from Angmering Park in Sussex, took over the lease at the end of April 2020, at the state of the art Rathmoy Stables in Newmarket, as David Lanigan relocated to the USA.
“At a time when there isn’t a lot of great news about, this is incredibly good news for my training operation,” said Knight, who has saddled a number of Group winners including 2010 Goodwood Cup hero Illustrious Blue. “Rathmoy is now one of the best equipped yards in Newmarket with around 80 boxes, its own equine pool, spa, treadmill and covered ride with superb access to Newmarket’s unrivaled gallops.”
“The vast majority of our owners have been extremely supportive of the move and I hope to start with around 50 horses.”
“I will leave West Sussex with only fond memories,” said Knight who worked in Newmarket when he was assistant to Ed Dunlop.
“However, this is the next chapter in our lives and I am relishing the opportunity to head back to Newmarket with my family. Like everyone, we are always looking to improve our performance and expand our business and I am confident that the move to Rathmoy Stables can do just that.”.
