Ventura Ocean sails to victory at Pontefract
Thu 09 Aug 2018
Our Richard Fahey trained son of Raven's Pass showed what he can do by winning the 6f novice at Pontefract yesterday. Placing 2nd on his first two starts, he still looks like there is more to come physically from him; he’s a lovely strong colt. He got to the front in the race with ease, but seemed to get a bit bored on his own and waited for the second horse to come to him before picking up again, where Paul Hanagan was then very easy on him and eased him some 75 yards from the line.
Paul was very complimentary about him after the race, explaining to his owners that he gave him a lovely feel and that he was only getting going late on and would certainly get further in time. In his post race interview he said: "We've always thought a lot of him" and this was the Racing UK 'quote of the day'. He also picked up a 'Plus 10 Bonus' from winning this race and you can see his happy owners being presented with the £10,000 cheque in the photo! Well done everyone.
He has come out of the race fine this morning and we can start to formulate a few plans going forward, but what we saw yesterday was the makings of a miler in time. There is nothing set in stone yet and we would like to see what the handicapper does on Tuesday with regards to his mark, but Tom his syndicate manager has the idea that he will be returning to York, where he made his debut...
He's our 59th winner this year and the 17th race won by one of our 2 year old's. This leaves us with 26 more winners to go to reach the 1,000 winners mark. Come on!!
