Ventura Diamond Sparkles at HQ to win the Listed 'Bosra Sham' Fillies' Stakes
Sat 31 Oct 2020
OUR 61st WINNER OF 2020: VENTURA DIAMOND, trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa: 'The Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Bosra Sham" Fillies' Stakes', over 6f at Newmarket.
Nervous times when a filly goes up in class, especially when the ground is described as 'heavy.' However our daughter of Dandy Man, who won a Conditions race last time out at Leicester in testing conditions, didn't disappoint in the £30,000 Feature race yesterday!
Breaking well in the centre of the 11 runner field, she travelled well and went on to lead 2f out. She was joined by the runner up and they had a sustained duel in the final furlong, but she kept on well and gamely battled to win by a neck. They pulled impressively 4 3/4 lengths ahead of the horse in 3rd.
We loved seeing the celebrations of her owners on the finishing line - that's what it's all about!

Timeform have awarded her with, not surprisingly, a career best rating of 101 for her third win this year.

Syndicate manager Tom Palin says: "Well what a tough and honest filly she is. There is no finer sight in racing than seeing your pride and joy toughing it out in the way she did there yesterday. If I’m honest the ride SDS gave her was exactly the race that envisaged in my mind’s eye and our filly was a more than willing partner for him, they’re a great team.
She has secured winning black type and I’m not sure there is too much more that we need to prove this season, so she will have a well-earned break ahead of coming back for her 3-year-old career. We have some very nice discussions to have about where we start her out in the Spring but that’s for the winter time! Congratulations to her owners and well done to Richard and the team at Musley Bank.”
It's great to have a third black type MPR winner this year after Ventura Tormenta won the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly and Marie's Diamond, the Listed Paradise Stakes, also at Newmarket, so we are all very pleased - as are some of our owners who are in more than one of these super horses are!
Very well done to her owners, a really special moment and just lovely to read that she is a headline in the Racing Post review of Newmarket, shown below.
