WINNER 65 OF 2022: WOODLANDS CHARM, trained by Nigel Tinkler and ridden by Rowan Scott: 'The Noel Whelan Handicap' over 6f at Windsor.
Running consistently well, having been a good 3rd at Goodwood last time out, the market had her as favourite to take this race. Stalled in the centre of the 11 runner field, she got a little crowded as they broke, but settled in the centre of the pack. Travelling well at the 2 furlong marker, there was a potential gap for Rowan to take her through, but that closed on them, so he had to switch her to the inner. Still at 1f out, it was looking as though she had a lot to do, but when ridden inside the final furlong, she put her head down to take the lead and kept on well, winning by a neck.

Timeform rated it as a career best 75, saying: "Strong in the betting, proved better than ever as she resumed winning ways; chased leaders, travelled well, shaken up 2f out, forced to switch over 1f out, led final 100 yds, kept on.”
Rowan said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "I was eager to get cover and then the gap 2 furlongs out closed on me, so we had to switch. She is brave and kept going though! She has the right attitude and the will to win.”
