Thank you Royal Ascot!
Mon 20 Jun 2022
Firstly, a big thank you to the Ascot team for a wonderful week of great hospitality for our owners. Carol organised 93 Royal Ascot badges for our lucky owners and we thank them for sharing their photos - you can see a selection in the gallery.
We declared 6 runners, with others being balloted out of their intended races. To have six sets of owners attending the absolute pinnacle of flat racing is a dream for any racing syndicate and we are thrilled that this season our horses are good enough to line up against these top class international sets of famous silks.
We finished the week, with the best racing performances of any syndicate, courtesy of both MAYLANDSEA and EDDIE'S BOY, both earning black type. Not an easy feat amongst this calibre of opposition!
On the Wednesday, our daughter of Havana Grey, Maylandsea, trained by Michael Bell lined up in the £115,000 Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, for 2 year-old fillies, over 5f. This was her second start, after her winning debut at Nottingham, on May 22nd. David Egan was again in the saddle and well, she ran a blinder!
Timeform say: Maylandsea (105+) "One of the better types in the field, was much improved from debut, despite that form having been let down since, looking suited by a stiff 5f, even though her pedigree is much more speed than stamina; patiently ridden, headway over 1f out, chased leader soon after, kept on well, held inside last ½f; likely to progress further."
Here she is returning later that afternoon to Fitzroy House. with Tim narrating and Carol giving her well done pats!
Then later on the card, Eddie's Boy, also by Havana Grey and this time trained by Archie Watson, was having his third start in the £100,000 Listed Windsor Castle Stakes, for 2 year-olds, over 5f. Hollie Doyle, who rode him to victory on debut was riding. He was up there for much of the race until those Coolmore silks loomed up on the far side and he took 3rd place.
Timeform say: (96+) "Had found only Coventry also-ran Remarkable Force too good at Musselburgh last time and improved again in first-time cheekpieces; close up, led before halfway, headed 1f out."
Wonderful that their performances take them into the top 20 highest rated 2-year-old's in Europe:
We can't wait to see what else they can achieve this season - their syndicate managers have already given their owners some stakes race targets, so watch this space...
What a first season their sire is having too. Three stakes horses and two of them are ours!
We have recently purchased a daughter of Havana Grey to be trained in Ireland by Eddie and Patrick Harty. Shares are now available and you can read about her here.
