'Super Saturday' delivers!
Sun 14 Jul 2019
Well ‘Super Saturday’ certainly lived up to its name yesterday! We were privileged to be at the major meetings with runners - Sarah was at Ascot, Mike was at Chester, Tom D was at Newmarket and Tim was at York to meet our owners, many of whom took advantage of seeing some super races, plus the lovely weather of course!
The performance of the day came from Tim Easterby’s Copper Knight at York (in the main photo). He won the Listed City Wall Stakes in fine style. His fourth win over course and distance too!
He has come out of the race fine and will go to Goodwood for the £300,000 King George Qatar Stakes at the beginning of next month, to have a crack at Bataash (again!) Harome ran in the first race at Ascot and had his owners cheering him home! Winning and then being second at Ayr last Sunday and Monday, he contested the Class 2 Heritage handicap. He did his usual quirky antics before the race, but once Nicola Currie was in the saddle, he was very well behaved! He shot out of the stalls and lead the field, but Tis Marvellous was just too good and pulled away to win, with Harome just losing 2nd in the final strides to be 3rd. A great run, with Nicola singing his praises for the way he battled to the line. Another successful H-I-T purchase with Roger Fell and we congratulate Rosie who led him up, as he won best turned out.
The Class 2 Bunbury Cup at Newmarket was won last year by our Roger Fell trained Burnt Sugar. He lined up again this year, but sadly the ground just went against him. Roger’s Admirality, ran superbly to take 3rd. He has an entry in the Scottish Stewards Cup in his diary next and both horses have plenty more opportunities this season to pick up some big prize pots!
Our horses picked up £51,000 of prize money yesterday, which means we are ahead of this time last year for winners and race earnings:
To July 14th 2018 - 43 winners and £637,000 won
As of today - 47 winners £642,000, with 49% of runners winning or being placed.
Let's keep it up #TeamMPR!
