MARIE'S DIAMOND SPARKLES AT LEICESTER
Sat 28 Apr 2018
Not content with winning 'Best Turned Out' for the 5f 2 year old race at Leicester today (thanks to the hard work by the Mark Johnston team), Marie's Diamond and Silvestre De Sousa showed plenty of class in the heavy ground to win by just over a length.
Described in the parade ring as a big colt, who didn't look like a 2 year old and being bred to stay over a mile plus, our son of Footstepsinthesand showed plenty of speed, a great attitude and was not fazed by the ground conditions.
Congratulations to his owners, seen proudly taking lots of photos of him in the winners' enclosure on Racing UK; and so they should. To win on debut is a rare thing for a 2 year old, especially on testing ground and they look to have an exciting season ahead.
We also saw a debut with promise from Good Tyne Girl at Ripon, for Richard Fahey. She placed 3rd behind two experienced boys, having been slowly away and running very green, but Paddy Mathers did a super job and she finished her race better than she started!
