It's all about Newmarket
Mon 16 Apr 2018
The 'home of flat racing' opens its doors for the first time this season on Tuesday, as the Craven meeting takes place on the Rowley Mile course. We are thrilled that our Marco Botti trained (and breeze up graduate), DARK ACCLAIM has been declared to run in the Listed Feilden Stakes on Tuesday. A race we won with Ventura Storm in 2016. We caught up with Marco and all our Newmarket trainers on Saturday, as we visited our horses with their owners. Luckily the rain stayed away and we enjoyed a fabulous morning. Sir Mark Prescott was on good form, as you will see from the photo; he and Richard Spencer having a friendly exchange with our owners on the gallops!
However, before the racing begins, the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale begins today, as the horses are 'breezed' on the track before going through the sales ring. The breeze will start at 9.30am and the sale will take place on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th April, after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of the three day meeting.
We will certainly be in attendance, as it is Europe's premier breeze up sale and where we purchased our aforementioned Group 1 winner VENTURA STORM. He gets a nice mention on their sales page here: http://www.tattersalls.com/news_article.php?id=668
We have had some lucrative success stories from previous breeze up purchases; not just providing owners with winners but a tidy profit too. Here are four examples:
VENTURA STORM-purchased at this sale for 110k in 2016. Won 327k in prize money (Gr 1, Gr 3, two Listed wins & 2nd in the St Leger) and was sold privately last year for a high 6 figure sum.
DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT-purchased from this sale for 30k. Won 239k in prize money (Group 2, 2nd in Gr 1) and was sold privately in 2017 for a 6 figure sum.
PETER MAC-purchased for just 8k and sold 3 months later to Qatar for 92k after 2 wins.
FUGLEMAN-purchased for 15k and sold after winning on debut for 75k.
So we know what we are looking for and will have a budget in mind once we assess the catalogued horses in the flesh tomorrow. If you are interested in taking a share should we buy a horse from this weeks sale, please don't hesitate to contact Tim Palin via tim@middlehamparkracing.net or call on 07785 745292. You can view the breezes and watch the sale live on the Tattersalls website and via Racing UK.
Any purchases we make will be shared on social media and appear here on our website as soon as possible afterwards.
