Genever Dragon Sets Pulses Racing!
Wed 30 Sep 2020
OUR 55th WINNER OF 2020: GENEVER DRAGON trained by Donald McCain and ridden by Henry Brooke: The 'bet365 Juvenile Maiden Hurdle' over 2m 178y, at Sedgefield.
Well, as syndicate manager Tom Palin says "Jumping is the name of the game" and yesterday was a great example of a horse jumping himself to the win. An incredible start from his new trainer Donald McCain and team, to have him so well practised and schooled over the hurdles on the first start, after a 74 day break from his last run on the flat.
A very promising start for the 3 year old son of Dragon Pulse and a well deserved win for his loyal owners. Watch the race replay here: https://www.attheraces.com/racecard/Sedgefield/29-September-2020/1350
Tom goes on to say: "He had plenty of opportunities to not be brave; particularly after being hampered at the 2nd and knocked sideways by an errant jumper on his right. He warmed to his task, travelling nicely and going easily -matched with his good jumping, meaning he could challenge for the lead 2 out. He jumped himself into the lead with a great leap at the last and saw the trip out very well. I was interviewed by David Carr of the Racing Post (below) and hinted that a go at the Listed Wensleydale Hurdle at the bet365 Charlie Hall meeting on October 30th could be his next start. We'll see how he is and chat to Donald, but let's revel in his win and thank the team at Bankhouse for their top work. Well done to his owners."
