Flymetothestars places an honourable 2nd in the Betfred Ebor

Memories of the St Leger finish from last year came flooding back this afternoon at York, when FLYMETOTHESTARS headed the Betfred Ebor coming into the final furlong! 

Held up in rear, he moved through the field, finding some congestion, but pulled through to the front in the final furlong, under a Luke Morris drive, only to be headed just before the line, going down by a head (see the photo finish still above). We are very proud of him, running on ground that ideally would have had more give and must thank his owners for being so patient, as it was only decided an hour before the race that he would run. He earned over £53,000 from the race and has already nicely paid for himself from the three races he has had for us since we bought him. We have just bought Dalshand* (David O'Meara), with exactly these targets in mind. There's a lot of prize money to be earned in these staying handicaps and he has given his owners some amazing days out. Well done to them and thanks go to Sir Mark Prescott and the team at Heath House. Needless to say, we are very proud of his effort.

Meanwhile at Goodwood, our other two runners also made the frame. MISS BAR BEACH (Keith Dalgleish) belied her outsiders odds of 33/1 to finish fast under Shane Kelly and place third in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes for fillies. She earned the valuable 'black type' and after her win last time out, has won more in prize money than we paid for her as a yearling (€9,000).

BURNT SUGAR competed in the valuable £100k handicap at Goodwood and blazed though the field to claim 2nd in the last 100 yards under John Egan, for Roger Fell, whose stable is in fine form. He collected a handy £18k and his owners were treated to champagne by the racecourse, which is a nice touch. Another horse we purchased from a different yard and who has gone on to win and more than pay his way!
