Elixsoft gets us off the mark in 2018 with a win at Wolves

Well done to Elixsoft's owners on her first win yesterday. Under a great ride by Ben Curtis at Wolverhampton, our Roger Fell trained filly got her head in front in the final furlong. We also took 3rd in the race with Ray Purchase, so a super result all round.

Roger reports that she’s fine at home this morning and Ben said afterwards that she was still green and a little bit clueless but that she showed a good attitude and he thinks that she could be progressive when she starts learning how to race.

She also had a good blow afterwards so there should more to come both fitness wise and through racing experience. She’s in again at Southwell on Sunday where she’d have to carry a 6lb penalty but we don’t think the handicapper will put her up more than 6lbs. We’ll have a look at the race when we can see the entries but suspect we might give her a bit more time and wait for something else.

We have had ten runners in January so far and eight have finished in the first four. After four 2nd places in the first week of the year, it was great to get the season off the mark!
