Bring The House Down!
Thu 23 Nov 2023
WINNER 105 OF 2023: CLARENDON HOUSE, trained by Robert Cowell and ridden by Luke Morris: The feature £25,200 Class 2 'BetUK. It's Where The UK Bets Handicap' over 5f at Wolverhampton.
Back after a 138 day break and a gelding operation, this was his first start on an AW surface.
Drawn 6 of 9 it was a pretty even break and he raced keenly, trying to get in rather than being stuck wide and was soon tracking the leader. Coming into the straight, he raced in second and when Luke asked him to quicken he did just that and took the lead inside the final furlong. Running on strongly, to win by 1 and a 1/4 lengths.

Timeform awarded him a career best rating of 115 and reported: "Gelded since last seen, was back to his very best returning from 5 months off, looking every inch the smart sprinter he was last year and relishing the switch to all-weather, possessing the perfect style for this sort of test and he could well have more success to come if kept on the go this winter; prominent, travelled well, pushed along over 1f out, led final 1f, kept on."
Luke said in his post race interview: "He's quite a smart horse and he ran well in big handicaps last year, just beaten in 'The Dash.' I'm sure that he is going to give his Middleham Park owners some big days and it's great to see him back."

Syndicate manager Tim says: "Great work by Robert Cowell to have him race winning fit after his break and thanks to Luke, who is 2 from 2 on him now! Not a bad way to start your AW career and a 6th win is super, so many congratulations to his owners. Robert and I will put together a few race options for the next few months for both here and abroad. He was turned out in the paddock this morning which he really enjoyed and thoroughly deserved."
