Beechwood Emily wins gamely at Newcastle.
Wed 09 Sep 2020
Our 48th Winner of the year: BEECHWOOD EMILY trained by Keith Dalgleish and ridden by Shane Gray: 'The Download The At The Races App Nursery' over 7 furlongs at Newcastle.
Our 2 year old daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was really game yesterday. She pinged the gates to lead down the centre of the track in the early stages, keeping a nice rhythm as challengers around her pulled for their heads. Although she was headed, she was still close up after 1f and went on to lead again over 2f out. Being pressed for the lead by a fast finisher, she kept on well in the final 1/2 furlong to win by 1/2 a length, showing a great willing attitude.

Syndicate manager Mike says: "It's hard to win from the front at Newcastle and I thought Shane gave her a good ride, setting very modest fractions in the early part of the race. They went for home a fair way out and that last furlong seemed to last forever, but we needn't have worried as she was very game in the final half furlong to repel the challengers. It's a stiff 7f at Newcastle and it looks like she could see out a mile in time. Well done to her owners on their win!"
There was a super debut also from our 2 year old breeze up purchase The Thin Blue Line up at Catterick, to place 2nd. Mike says: "A very pleasing introduction to his racing career. He was green and very raw in the race but he clearly has ability and he finished off his race well. Kevin (Stott) was trying to get him over towards the stand side rail but his rivals kept him pinned towards the centre of the track on the worst of the ground, whilst the favourite managed to get the advantage of the better ground up the rail. He'll come on plenty for that run both mentally and physically and he looks a nice type."
Two more winners to go to reach 50 for the year, with some valuable races for us this week at the Doncaster St Leger meeting and lots of owners with badges. A Group 2, a Listed race and three Class 2 runners at the track- we like a festival! Good luck everyone.
