Winner 59 of 2024: LEXINGTON BLITZ, trained by Robert Cowell, and ridden by Ray Dawson. ‘British EBF Maiden Stakes’ over 5f at Windsor.
Lexington Blitz ran a solid race on debut to finish 4th at Ayr. He had shown a little inexperience in the closing stages against a small but strong field of runners on that day, so we were hopeful he would take a big step forward in this Open Novice contest . The son of Invincible Spirit, a Breeze Up purchase from the Arqana Breeze Up Sale in May, broke well, travelled strongly in second against the rail and disputed the lead two furlongs from home before seeing off a strong challenge from the eventual runner up, and favourite, to win by a head.

Timeform rated his performance with an 81, saying: "Showed much improved form to narrowly get off the mark, still green through the early stages but knuckling down with the rail to help in the finish; prominent, raced freely, led over 1f out, ridden final 1f, joined final 100 yds, just held on."
A very impressed Ray Dawson after the race: "He was still quite green in the early stages of the race, but I am most impressed by the way he battled when headed 1/2 furlong out, to get back up and win. I really like the colt and he will definitely improve again after today. Well done to his owners"
The Racing Post was taken by his performance too: "Lexington Blitz, who raced along the stands' rail, came on from his debut despite taking a keen grip, and he had to battle on gamely as the well-backed second came to challenge. He might make up into a useful juvenile."
