A turf season opening treble at Doncaster!
Sun 25 Mar 2018
Oh my word-what a way to welcome in British Summer Time today at Doncaster, as all three of our runners; RIGHT ACTION, NAADIRR and VENTURA DRAGON all won! After a superb day in The Royal Box with owners yesterday (story and gallery to follow tomorrow), we didn't think we could top that.
With a super double from RICHARD FAHEY (which amazingly emulated May 22nd at Carlisle last year, when the same two horses also won), NAADIRR made a winning return to the course, where he had won twice previously.
Right Action showed a really tough attitude to hold his head of the field position coming into the final furlong and kept on well under Silvestre De Sousa. The Champion jockey clearly starting the season with us as he means to go on and recording Right Action's fourth career victory.
Naadirr had an awkward start where it looked for a moment that jockey Jamie Spencer would be unseated, but he sat well and just had to accept being at the back of the field. Traveling strongly, he worked his way through the field, steering him around horses to pick up really well and claim the prize for Kevin Ryan. We have added 10% of shares in him to the website if you feel like joining his other owners at Royal Ascot in the Wokingham, or Ripon in the Great St Wilfrid...http://www.middlehamparkracing.net/horses/view,naadirr_67.htm
Ventura Dragon had an unbeaten 10/11 favorite Godolphin owned filly in his race, but we didn't tell him that. Connor Murtagh had him nicely switched off in the 1m 2f contest and began his move to catch the filly who looked as though the race was hers. He stayed on really well under a Connor drive to take the lead in the last 50yds, even losing a shoe in the process.
Pretty tough going under-hoof was no problem and all three horses thrilled not only their owners, but anyone who had the treble. Did someone mention 971/1?!
With a healthy £21,067 in prize money won today, we doubt there is any champagne left at Town Moor by the looks of the photos included here....
A lovely way to begin the turf season, with a fresh group of horses that have had the winter off and today takes us to 11 winners this year.
