Posted the 2nd fastest breeze of any filly at the sale.
Purchased at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale, for 120,000gns. The sale where last year, we purchased our Group 1 winner The Platinum Queen. This filly was quite a talking horse around the sales’ complex, all week.
'Lot 288: sold by Nikki Scallan and Antonio Da Silva's A & N Bloodstock, this daughter of Starspangledbanner makes 120,000gns. Bought by Middleham Park Racing she is out of the Soldier Hollow mare Felissa, a half-sister to the Group 3 winner and Group 2 producer Felicity. She was bought as a yearling for €40,000.
Tom Palin of Middleham Park said: "She goes to Hugo Palmer, there is no finer trainer of one by Starspangledbanner. It is the obvious fit. He loved her, we loved her and she timed quite nicely. She is a big strong filly, has a bit of stamina to her pedigree so she is not whizz bang type, she looks like she should progress like most of Hugo's 'Starspangleds' have done."

She was the 2nd fastest filly in the race, hot on the heels of the fastest filly in the race, again by Starspangledbanner. We vetted the other filly too, but sadly, she failed the vet for us, so in our opinion this was our nap of all the fillies in the sale, a sale where we picked up the Group 1 winning The Platinum Queen, a year ago, pretty much to the day. There was a colt who finished 2nd in the Breeze but to finish 3rd in a race of 169 horses when we’re out of a Soldier Hollow mare, is quite some feat, we felt.
She’ll head to Michael Owen’s Cheshire base for Hugo Palmer to train, he’s great with sons and daughters of STARSPANGLEDBANNER, having already trained Home Of The Brave and The Rosstafarian (now named Golden Dragon and racing in Hong Kong). Hugo is firmly of the opinion that Starspangled’s best progeny hail from mares with a bit of stamina about them. He taught us that several seasons ago.
