"I’m hoping he can make up into a 95 or 100 rated performer this turf season” - Richard Hannon
Part of a Lady Howard de Walden partial dispersal, this attractive 3yo colt, who stands at a whopping 16.2hh for a Flat horse, has taken plenty of time to come to hand, even in the hands of Richard Hannon, however, this should come as little surprise, given he’s by the stamina influence stallion Ulysses, from a family with both talented, staying Flat and Jumps performers inherently in there.
Given this colt’s level of ability, both at home and on the track, having finished a clear 2nd, only 2 days prior to the sale on his racecourse debut, behind GODOLPHIN’s exciting OPERA BALLO. who could be 2000 Guineas or Kentucky Derby bound after being 2/2. He did little wrong in defeat, keeping on well over a mile (his pedigree screams 1m2f and 1m4f, to be seen to best effect), pulling 3.5 lengths clear of the remainder of the opposition - an impressive performance indeed.

Reported by Richard Hannon to be a strapping sort, who already weighs in at 489kg, “he’s sure to improve significantly as he matures and steps up in distance”. We pride ourselves at MPR in trying to source Saturday horses and festival horses, and at 32,000gns we think that’s precisely what we’ve sourced here.
Richard has gone on record as saying “He’s alway worked like a decent horse. I was determined to buy him back at the sale, and I thought he’d make plenty more than he did. He’s sure to get further as the season progresses, given his pedigree. I’m hoping he can make up into a 95 or 100 rated horse”.
Training Update: He is a lovely colt who we have always thought a lot of and showed that on his first start when finishing behind a vey smart looking Godolphin horse at Kempton, pulling 3 lengths clear of the rest of the field in the process. He is back in full work and is looking and feeling great. He is an exciting horse to be going into the season with, and we have given him plenty of time to grow and develop into a promising colt.
See a video of him cantering, including Richard thougths below:
He looks nailed on to win pretty much any maiden or novice next time out and he should go on to compete in some fairly fancy races, adorning plenty of prize money pots throughout the Spring and Summer months. Thoroughly unexposed, of course, given his single run to date, it’s anyone’s guess, where, with natural improvement, he will end up racing.
At the end of this Flat season, the syndicate can decide to race on, on the Flat in 2026, or whether to sell him on at the October Horses In Training Sale, hopefully at a tidy profit, or, something we’d potentially encourage, given this fellow’s size and stature, alongside his undoubted stamina, to consider a dual purpose option for the Winter ie look at transferring him to one of the top National Hunt yards, and try and work back from the National Hunt festivals, come the Spring of 2026.
A thoroughly exciting individual, courtesy of the fabulous Lord and Lady Howard de Walden breeding dynasty and our proven connections to Richard Hannon, who thoroughly recommended him to us.
