For 4 or 5 sales’ seasons now, we’ve been looking for a yearling or breezer to place with Charlie Hills, who trains from the historic Wetherdown House Stables in Lambourn, previous frequented by his father Barry Hills. A numerous Group 1 winning trainer in his own right, Charlie is the perfect gentleman, and we’ve enjoyed his company and got to know him well. Unfortunately, we’ve never quite managed to have the hammer fall in our favour, whenever we’ve teamed up at the sales, and for a good while now, we’ve had a verbal agreement that if ever he has available, a very talented horse, already in the yard, that he should contact us to jump aboard.
We’re delighted that patience has proven a virtue, in that we’ve managed to secure this fabulously well bred filly by the unbeaten Group 1 winner at 2 and a brilliant Guineas winner at 3 Saxon Warrior. She’s flying up the Lambourn gallops, as you can see from the videos and her work significantly usurps older horses, regarded as above average. She looks talented, and she comes highly recommended from the trainer who just saddled a smart 2y winner by the same stallion.
Training update (September): “She is a vey nice filly, who is in full work and has been through the stalls. She is ready to run in a 7f maiden or novice. She can be seen below, quickening up on an older horse.” Her race entries/declarations will show on this page.
