Arf's Duchess
Race entries
For 4 or 5 sales’ seasons now, we’ve been looking for a yearling or breezer to place with Charlie Hills, who trains from the historic Wetherdown House Stables in Lambourn, previous frequented by his father Barry Hills. A numerous Group 1 winning trainer in his own right, Charlie is the perfect gentleman, and we’ve enjoyed his company and got to know him well. Unfortunately, we’ve never quite managed to have the hammer fall in our favour, whenever we’ve teamed up at the sales, and for a good while now, we’ve had a verbal agreement that if ever he has available, a very talented horse, already in the yard, that he should contact us to jump aboard.
Training update: We purchased her following a stunning piece of work in the Summer where she put a 79-rated older horse to “bed” in simplistic fashion - she ran a super race on debut at Doncaster in September and will take a big step forward now she’s matured over the winter. She has a fabulous pedigree for residual value purposes, and she could easily be one for the Sandringham handicap at Royal Ascot.
