WINNER 28 OF 2024: LEAP ABROAD, trained by Paul and Oliver Cole & ridden by Alec Voikhansky (-3): The 'Atlantic Pale Ale Handicap' over 6f at Leicester.
First time at Leicester and a first start on 'soft' ground for Leap Abroad. Drawn in stall 1, he broke well and was prominent. Ridden over 1f out, he kept on well inside the final furlong to press the leader. Carried right close home, he took the lead near the finish and just did enough, to win by a neck.

Timeform rated it as a joint career best 94 performance, commenting: "Was only 1 lb higher than for his last win and fully 9 lb lower than when making the frame in a much stronger race at the Guineas meeting last year and he bounced back to his best to come a little way clear with a thriving rival; chased leader, pushed along over 2f out, challenged inside final 1f, edged ahead close home."
Alec said in his Sky Sports Racing interview: "The race worked out as I thought it would and he was very gutsy in the finish. He hung left into me but I always thought I had enough to win."
Syndicate manager Mike says: "Well done to his owners on his 5th career win yesterday. He showed a fantastic attitude in the finish there to come out on top after being leant into by the runner up. We were worried about the ground, as that was an unknown, but he came through it well under a good ride by Alec. That's our 4th winner this week "
